We had a weird August this year. At least as far as weather goes. The weather was just a tad chilly for swimming. We didn't go to the pool very often and when we did it was only for a short while. However, the few days before Labor Day, the weather warmed up and the nights stayed warm...so finally the pool was warm enough for us to go in. Labor Day was perfect pool weather.

Labor Day Duathlon
On Labor Day morning, we headed out to a local kids duathlon in the area. For Alex and Aubrey's age range, they did a half mile bike ride and then a half mile run. It was a success. They loved it. At the end, Alex was determined to beat a friend of his from church. He was so excited when he ran past her at the finish.

Fun at the Beach
On the Saturday before Labor Day weekend, we ventured to Virginia Beach for the Day. It was a perfect day to have fun in the sand and the waves.

Extra Pictures from our Michigan Trip
We went to the beach twice and Alex and Aubrey had a lot of fun. Of course, both trips required getting all that sand out of everything.
Berry Picking with Grammie
I haven't been berry picking in a very long time, so when I saw a raspberry pick-your-own field on one of my bike rides while up in Michigan, we decided to go with the kids. I thought the kids had fun, but I think my Mom, Grammie, had even more fun than the kids. We started at a pick-your-own raspberry field.
Then we decided to drive to a blackberry pick-your-own farm. I am not usually a fan of blackberries, but these ones were delicious.
I think Grammie picked most of the blackberries because the kids just wanted to play. They called this their favorite playground of the whole trip.
