Cherry Blossoms with Marissa

Unfortunately, when we went to see the Cherry Blossoms with Andrea, Marissa was unable to join us because she had to work.  But, it gave us the chance to take another picnic and go again last Tuesday afternoon.  This time we went later in the evening.  The blossoms were still as beautiful as they were on Sunday, so it was nice to share them with Marissa.

We did a repeat of our trip on Sunday, but it was fun with a new person with us.
Here we are at our picnic dinner.

A look over at the Jefferson Memorial through the cherry blossoms.

Hopefully Alex will be strong and stand for what he believes.

Cherry Blossoms with Aunt Andrea

Aunt Andrea (my sister) came for the weekend.  Alex, Aubrey, and I had a great time with her.  We are so glad she could visit with us.
It is so hard to believe this is March, the weather has been absolutely beautiful.  The cherry blossoms in DC are even making an early display of beautiful color.   Since the weather is perfect, we decided to take a lunch picnic and enjoy the cherry blossoms downtown.

Here is our attempt at the 3 of them together.  Gee is it hard to get Alex and Aubrey to look in the right direction.  But, oh well, they are cute anyway.

Finally when we had someone else take the picture, Alex and Aubrey were so excited to say "cheese", and to look at the camera.
We took a walk around the FDR memorial.

Then, we took a walk to the new Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial.  In this picture, Alex is studying the statue.
Once again, another attempt at the three of them.  I guess playing with sticks and mulch wins over looking at the camera.  Oh well, we tried.

Kite Flying

A couple weeks ago, Dave was at a store and saw a kite for a dollar and decided to pick it up.  Even though he thought it probably wouldn't fly very well, he decided that it was worth trying it out for a dollar.   When he got home, we all piled in the car and took the kite to the park.   Well, needless to say, the kite flew PERFECTLY.  Alex and Aubrey did very well at taking turns holding the string....UNTIL..... the kite flew off down the park while the kids were switching from one person to the other.  It floated off gracefully through the park and right into a tree.   We still had fun anyway.  Dave even went back to the store and bought another one that we will have to try again someday.

Strawberry Shortcake and Apple Pie

For dessert, Dave's Mom made delicious Strawberry Shortcake and Apple Pie. Marissa and Aubrey went for the Strawberry Shortcake and Alex went for the Apple Pie. I actually went for a little bit of both. : )

Color Time

While in NC we got to see our niece's twins (Addison and Braeden). Alex had a nice time coloring with them.

Game Time

This last weekend, we went to North Carolina to visit with Dave's Family.
All five of us went, Marissa, Alex, Aubrey, Dave, and I. We enjoyed our visit with Nanny (Dave's mom).
A friend of mine, suggested the game Hullaballoo. Fortunately, I found it at a local consignment sale for a good price. We have had fun playing it at home so we took it to North Carolina with us. Marissa, Nanny, Alex, and Aubrey had fun playing it together.

(Thank you, Courtney, for the game suggestion!)

Marissa and I

A week ago, Marissa and I went to see a local production of "Fiddler on the Roof." It was at a dinner theatre and we had a really nice time. A couple members of my church were in the production, so it was nice to see them perform.
