Trucks and More!

Last weekend, we ventured downtown to see MONSTER JAM!  It was fun and the kids liked it.  It was a nice to do something different.   Even Aubrey had a good time.

Cotton Candy makes any event fun!

We took the metro there and back.
We don't use the metro very often, so the kids enjoyed that part of our adventure as well.

Snow Day #2

The day after it snowed, our local school system closed the schools for a second day.  So we went sledding again.   This day was freezing, so we didn't stay out too long, but we still had fun.

Snow Day

On Tuesday, January 21st, we had a Snow Day.   Most of the area was shut down because they were predicting a big snow.  Well, the snow did come down.   Not as much as we would have liked for a Snow Day, but it was enough to shovel and go sledding with our neighbor.

The Tree Must Come Down

In January, we went outside to play and our neighbor joined us. They decided to attempt a mission to pull down the tree from the front yard.   I knew they couldn't do it because it is too thick or I would have stopped them.  It sure was fun to watch them try.  They were determined...very determined.

NEIGHBOR : So, how do you think we should do this?
ALEX: I wonder if we could use this jump rope and bike, hmmm.

ALEX:  Yes, I think this is how we should do it!   Will you help me?
NEIGHBOR:  Of course.  Let's take this tree down.

Aubrey decided to check out the commotion.

AUBREY:  You guys are crazy.  I am just going to enjoy my drink over here.
(insert chuckle)

ALEX:  Ready PULL!
NEIGHBOR:  Go Alex Go!

Aubrey decided to set up a picnic to watch the progress.

ALEX:  Let me reevaluate this situation.  It's not looking good.

ALEX:  Neighbor are you there?
NEIGHBOR:  Yes, I am on the walkie talkie getting more supplies.
ALEX:   Mission Abort.   Repeat.  Mission Abort.
We will have to try again tomorrow!
Over and out!

My Stuffed Animals

The other day, I opened a container of my stuffed animals from when I was a child.   I had opened it once before and pulled out a few items, but just the other day I pulled out the last few items.   I had forgotten that I had them.  Well Alex has really enjoyed playing with my Furskin Bear and Aubrey really likes my "Popsicle" bear.  (Aubrey also likes playing with my favorite Cabbage Patch Doll "Madeleine", but I need to get a picture of them together.)

It just makes me smile when they play with them.

Of course, they had to be silly.  : )

We even had a birthday party for "Furskin" the other day.
It was complete with a birthday cake and our family's birthday tablecloth.

Double Double Trouble

While at Dave's Mom's house, we met up with Dave's niece, Jennifer, who has 4 year old twins.  Alex and Aubrey always have fun playing with their twin cousins.

Roller Skating

While we were in NC visiting Dave's Mom, we let the kids try Roller Skating.  There was a really nice rink near Dave's Mom's house.  After looking at the website, we realized that the rink offered skating lessons.   We decided to try it out.  I think it was really helpful for Alex and Aubrey.  They really improved while we were there.

After the lessons, we did stay for the open skating hours which were labeled for kids 12 and under.  However, we found out that parents were allowed to go out there as well.  So, I paid the fee, rented skates, and went out there as well.

Trip to NC

On New Years Eve, we went to our neighbor's house and had a great relaxing time.  The adults were even able to play a few rounds of Apples to Apples, until we encountered a few tired kids.  We only made it till about 8pm, but it was nice to enjoy food and games with friends.

On the day after New Years Day, we packed up the car and drove to Dave's Mom's house for the weekend.   It was nice to see her since we haven't seen her in a while.

While we were there we went to a local Science Center and were able to see the new Aquarium.  The kids loved it and I have to admit that us adults thought it was pretty neat too.

Dave says I never put pictures of myself on here, so here is one.  : )

Another Hike

A few days after Christmas, we decided to go on another hike.  The weather was great for late December.  We tried a new trail and it was fun to explore.

Christmas Day

Christmas Day was a success!   Alex and Aubrey got what they wanted and even a bit more.  Thank you to all our family and friend who helped make it great!   Hoping that everyone had a safe and merry Christmas!

Alex really wanted a Switch-n-Go Dino and he got it from Santa.
